Dead Like Me – Season 2 Sunday, Dec 28 2008

Dead Like Me Season 2 is if anything, even better than the first season. George is starting to figure her place out in the After Life and is becoming more confident as she reaps. She’s still keeping a close eye on her family, especially her sister Reggie, who now firmly believes George is alive.

We also explore more of the other characters lives, and Daisy gets a love interest in Eric McCormack’s cameo as Ray. But Ray isn’t all he seems and his violent behaviour turns Daisy off, especially as he creeps even Rube out! Mason is the perpetual screw up he always is, but in the late half of the season, you see a heart developing, though its very well hidden.

Rube goes on a mission to find out what happened to his family after his death, after a package he sent them was never delivered.

Roxy quits her job as a Meter Maid and becomes a police officer which makes the tough vixen even tougher.

Kiffany the waitress at the gang’s hangout is mysterious as usual with her comments, Delores (George’s boss) is as bright as ever and Crystal (The Receptionist) has a boyfriend!

So in all, a fantastic season and I’m very sad that’s all we got from this show. Looking forward to the movie coming out next year though!

Dead Like Me – Season 2 [2003]

Dead Like Me – Season 1 Friday, Dec 12 2008

Dead Like Me follows Georgia “George” Lass who is an 18 year old college drop out. George is killed by a toilet seat on her lunch break on her first day at work, and becomes a Reaper, replacing the person who reaped her soul, as he filled his quota. George must adjust to her new life as a Reaper, and learn the rules of her new job.

She also has to find a place to live, a day job and learn to say goodbye to her family who are finding it difficult after her death. The Reapers are a group who helps George adjust to her new life. Rube is the head Reaper who gives out assignments on Post It Notes, which he gets from a mysterious source. Betty is the happy go lucky 20’s good time gal, who hitches a ride with a dead soul, and is never heard from again mid-series. Mason is a British Reaper who killed himself during the ultimate High. Roxy is the obnoxious Meter Maid who eventually thaws a little by the end of the series. And Daisy is the actress who’s always scheming and shares an apartment with George.

There’s also Delores – George’s boss at Happy Time Temporary Services who acts as a maternal figure to George, whether she likes it or not and Crystal – The mysterious receptionist at Happy Time who helps the Reapers put souls last thoughts into a database during the one day off from death.

And also the evil Gravelings which cause Death, which can only be seen from the corner of your eye, or in George’s case, she can see them fully.

Its a very funny series which tries to make the journey after life a little less scary and ponders on the life of those who must live between worlds would be like.

I loved George, as much as I wanted to smack her sometimes for her stupidity. Rube is funny, wise and paternal. Roxy is obnoxious but kind when it matters. Betty was great and I miss her. Don’t like Daisy but she’s growing on me. And Mason is fantastic!

Looking forward to Series 2!
