John Barrowman is now one of the most ubiquitous entertainers of our time. He first came to my attention as the cheeky Captain Jack Harkness in new series of Dr. Who. Then as the star of the spinoff series, Torchwood.
This book jumpcuts through events of his childhood, early years in showbiz and various relationships he has had. As he intended it to be read, it feels like you’re listening to him talking as he jumps from events and relates occurrences from his past and present. It’s also filled with pictures from his childhood, his shows and the present day.
There weren’t any huge surprises for me in the book as I knew a fair bit about John, but it gave a deeper meaning and the real behind the scenes stories of what’s happened so far in his life and how he got to that stage.
I rarely read autobiographies and it takes a very special person to make me read something like this, but it was worth it. If you’ve ever been curious about John or are already a fan, this is a must read.
